About National Party

Our Legacy of Struggle and Progress

National Party is a secular, progressive, and democratic political force rooted in the aspirations of the oppressed nations and working people of Pakistan. Guided by the principles of social democracy, inclusive federalism, and human dignity, National Party envisions a peaceful, pluralistic, and prosperous federation where power flows from the people and all citizens enjoy equal rights, security, and justice; irrespective of class, ethnicity, religion, or gender.

Founded in 2003, National Party emerged from the historic unification of two ideological currents: Balochistan National Movement (BNM), successor to the Balochistan National Youth Movement (BNYM) of 1988 and the Balochistan National Democratic Party (BNDP), itself the ideological heir of the Pakistan National Party (PNP), led by the legendary statesman Baba-e-Balochistan, Mir Ghous Baksh Bizenjo. Both founding organizations trace their ideological roots to the National Awami Party (NAP), which championed the cause of democratic federalism and people’s rights across Pakistan.

National Party considers itself the continuation of the century-long national democratic movement that began in Balochistan in 1918 and later expanded to the federating units of Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. This movement sought to dismantle colonial structures, challenge rigid tribalism, confront imperialist exploitation, and resist authoritarianism through a peaceful, parliamentary, and constitutional struggle. At its heart lies the unwavering commitment to federalism, rule of law, and the political, economic, and cultural rights of all nations within the Pakistani federation.

In a country long plagued by centralized authoritarianism, military interference, and systemic inequality, National Party remains steadfast in its demand for a truly democratic and voluntary federation, where sovereignty resides with the people, and all federating units control their resources, coasts, and decision-making powers. The party opposes all forms of exploitation, discrimination, and subjugation, be it national, religious, sectarian, gender-based, or economic.

National Party stands with the marginalized and the voiceless. It pledges to secure fundamental rights, protect cultural identities, ensure equitable development, and create a society where justice and peace are not privileges for a few, but guarantees for all. As heirs to a proud tradition of struggle, sacrifice, and resistance, National Party continues to carry forward the torch of democratic nationalism in Pakistan.
